Our Featured Book: Intruders

Our trip is curated around the book “Intruders”, a short story collection by multi-disciplinary storyteller, singer-songwriter, and novelist Mohale Mashigo. Mashigo says “I wanted to write stories about nobodies and make them somebodies.” Intruders was born of her desire to write mystical stories about people who don’t conform to societal standards – “the outcasts, the homeless and the misunderstood.”

“Intruders” is the perfect book to guide our trip to Cape Town, South Africa. Cape Town is one of the most beautiful cities in the world AND a city where the majority Black population is often marginalized. The economy of Cape Town’s city center and the beautiful, world-renowned winelands is still extremely white. Our trip is focused on bringing the spotlight (and resources) back to the Black and brown entrepreneurs, artists, and changemakers who often face insurmountable odds to success and fly under the radar during traditional visits to Cape Town.
